Demanding young lady

L is nothing if not opinionated and is not afraid to let you know if something displeases her. She is also using lots of words. She will bring you her jacket when we are heading out the do and say 'go' and her word for car is 'go go.' She is also very fast. She toddles around the house at full speed and is constantly moving things. She frequently brings me a shoe or a book then she will sit in my lap for a second and then she is off again.

C loved the world cup even though his favorite Basil was eliminated. I picked up 4 shirts at JCPenny for 36 bucks so the whole family was outfitted. Go to my Flickr to see C in his Brasil and Croatia jerseys. Four more years. Go Ireland!

Day of fixing

Yesterday I got Sears to fix the 1 year old fridge. They were to arrive between 10 and 1. Long story short, he got here at 4. Also yesterday the sewer the the back half of the house started backing up. I snaked and chemicaled and finally got it to work. Then my email went down and I had to reset lots of stuff to get it working again. Whew.

Lumia is walking all over the place and is very focused. Yesterday she sat alone in the reading spot and got up a few times to get a new book, toddled back over to the reading spot and continued reading. She is turning into and independent little lady.

Cael has started recognizing and properly using sarcasm. We are in trouble.

How about Brasil? I guess it is not a surprise but man are they Awesome. Cael will be very happy and would have watched it if he did not have a big fit and loose his TV privileges.

Trautweins are here and starting the move in to the House in Everett. Very cool. The last two nights they went home for the night and did not have to fly back to Missouri and see us again in many months.

Blogging

The kids are asleep. My wife is sending an email a sick friend and I am sitting in dark typing on my iPhone.

We are looking to get a new car in the fall and are trying to decide what to get. We need something bigger. The hybrids are to expensive. Minivans are not cool. What are we to do? I like the VW Routan. We did a test drive yesterday.

Baby Bird

While we were in Missouri C found a dead baby bird that had fallen out of it's nest. He sat on his haunches and inspected it for a long time and had many questions about death. We buried it in the back yard near some of my old cats. While we dusted the dirt off our hands he said he was sad, that it was no fair and he "wanted it to live forever." it was a nice bitter sweet moment for him.

A trip of lasts

We just returned from a trip to the midwest. We went to Missouri for my littlest sister's highschool graduation and then to Indiana for a mini family reunion. We had a great time. Go to my Flickr page for pictures.

It is a bit sad to note that this trip included many if not lasts then not again for a very long times. I cannont imagine I will return to Cape Girardeau for many years since my family is leaving that place. So I did the many things for the last time in this place. I went to my two favorite reasturants: Port Cape Girardeau and Brousards, I drove around town and viewed old haunts and memorable places, I met with old friends (Paul, Byrd and Tom it was great to see you) and with sadness I drove away. Here is a sign of the times, when I went to go look for the URL for Brousards I made them a friend on Facebook.

Congradulations to my little sister Janna for graduating with distinction. Congrads to my little sister Carly for a sucessful semester abroad. Good job to the Trautweins for fixing up that old Cape house and getting rid of so many things to make the move easier. Nice to see so many Dunhams and Ulrichs. Thanks to Karen and family for putting us up. Thanks to Aaron Crull for being C's buddy, he loved it.

Advice to families when traveling. Get your seat assignments. I was not able to do this when I bought the tickets and it was a big pain in the ass when all three people that can sit in our family were put in different rows. Fortunatly there were some very nice people on the plane who traded seats with us. By the way I used Orbitz website and the TripTracker app. 

C, you were a great little traveler. I look forward to many more trips together. When we were all back in Seattle and waiting for the train to our car C said he was ready to go back right now even if it meant another 10 hours of travel. What a trooper and a lover of family.

Posting to my blog

I get the wierdest posts from people I do not know that are usually giberish. Whats up. Thank you to my readers that do leave legible responses, you know who you are.

Heading off to MO for the graduation of my littlest sister. This may be my last trip to the Cape for many years. Thank god for Facebook or I would not be able to stalk all my old Cape friends.

Grey wet day here on the hill. See the view looking south from the new
breezeway on the 7th floor. Barely sat down today. Patients are
keeping me very busy.

It was very nice to see Poppop. The kids loved it.
